© Rocio Rincon
Hello, how are you doing? I hope you're doing fine. My husband and I are very happy, we just found out that we're having a baby girl, yay!!! It's so exciting!

Well, today, I also wanted to share my new header illustration. Change is always good, so I just wanted a quick makeover from my previous header. I hope you'll like it.

For this illustration, I used PanPastel which I'm still learning how to use. By the way, I love them! I love the effect of softness and airiness that they bring.

Well my friends, I hope to see you soon! Keep checking back for more illustrations!

Hello dear friends, I hope you're doing fine. Today, I wanted to share some exciting news about myself. I'm pregnant!!! I wanted to share the news earlier with you, but I wanted to make sure everything was going okay with the pregnancy. Tomorrow I'll be 18 weeks pregnant. My lovely husband and I are extremely happy!!!

After 7 years of marriage, and waiting and praying for a baby for a long time, God is granting us this opportunity to be parents. Dear friends, please pray for this miracle baby, and for everything to turn out fine. We would really appreciate it.

By the way, I don't really like doing illustrations about myself, but my friends were pushing me to make one. I hope you'll like it. Ps: It was very difficult drawing myself. ᵔ.ᵔ

I hope you'll like the illustration. Take care!!!

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Hello my friends, today I wanted to share my entry for this year's "Shabby Apple's Dare to Design Contest." This is the first time I'm entering this contest, so I'm very excited!!!

My design inspiration came when I started daydreaming about Paris in the Spring. I never been there, but I imagined a very chic girl strolling down the streets in a very sweet dress with lots of color.

I choose a 100% cotton fabric with a large floral print, and I decided to create a flared dress with short sleeves. I followed Shabby Apple's design standards, so the hemline is up to the knee and it doesn't show any cleavage.

I'm so happy to enter this contest, especially because I love Shabby Apple Dresses. They're so classy, sophisticated and some of them have a vintage flair. I love them!!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and I'm hoping that my dress makes it to the top 15 entries. If it does happen, they're gonna post it on the Shabby Apple Blog by August 17th, 2011. My dear friends, if it happens, could you be so kind to vote for me? I would really appreciated.

Well my friends wish me luck!!!

See you soon!

Happy Summer!

© Rocio Rincon
Hello there! I hope you're having a great Summer. Today, I wanted to share a Summer illustration I did some months ago. I don't have much experience with watercolors, so I decided to give it a try. Actually, for the fashion doll, I used prismacolors.

I really like to have lots of details on my illustrations, so I'm not really sure if I'm gonna continue using watercolors. For now, I'm working with Pan Pastels like I mentioned on a previous post. What do you think of this illustration?

Well, I hope you'll continue to have a lovely Summer. Take care. See you soon!

A Sunny Walk in a Summer Dress

© Rocio Rincon

Hello dear friends, I know I haven't posted frequently, and I wish I could tell you more details, but for now all I can tell you is that I would try my best to post as often as I can.

With that said, I wanted to share with you my latest fashion illustration called "Sunny Girl". My inspiration was of course the Summer, and I chose a yellow dress because to me it represents the sun, energy and happiness.

I used PanPastel for the background, and it was my first time using them, and I love them!!! They are so fun, I'll continue doing my illustrations with them.

Well my friends, be sure to check my blog for new updates and illustrations. Have a great week!!!

Take care! See you soon!

D.I.Y. Pencil /Cosmetic Bag

Hello my friends! I hope you're having a good day. Today, I wanted to share a 'Do It Yourself' tutorial for making a pencil or cosmetic bag.

I decided to do my DIY pencil bag with an illustration I did a while back which I had printed on canvas with an iron transfer. The fabric was a little worn, but overall, I liked the end result.

If you decide to do this project, you could use a fabric of your choice, preferably one you could use with a sewing machine. Also, if you're really creative, perhaps you could do a design using fabric paints.

Okay, here's a link to the tutorial. I found this tutorial on 'daaerollins's Channel' on Follow the instructions carefully, and you'll be okay. This is not that complicated, but you do need a sewing machine.

Well my friends, I hope you'll like this DIY pencil/cosmetic bag tutorial. If you decide to do it, and want to share it on this blog, let me know. Have a great week!!!

My version of Tiffany Yang's Marshmallow Bunny Pop

Hello dear friends! How are you doing? Can you believe is almost Easter? I honestly can't. Time seems to be flying, don't you think? I love Spring the weather is perfect, flowers are blooming, and also Easter is just around the corner, yay! =)

Today, I bring you a very fun Easter treat that I found on Cute Foods for Kids. I just found that website a few days ago, and when I saw Tiffany Yang's Marshmallow Bunny Pops, I knew I had to make some.

The Marshmallow Bunny Pops are easy to make. You just need a few ingredients and supplies such as vanilla and strawberry marshmallows, round sprinkles, red food coloring, bamboo skewers and scissors to cut the marshmallows. Optional, you can also decorate the bunny pops with cute ribbons or you can place them in clear cello bags. You can follow the instructions here.

Make a Wish!

Dante and Mickey

My family and I at the Magic Kingdom

Dante with his little sister Ali and I

Dante with my brother Salvador

Dante seeing some Disney characters for the first time!

Hello dear friends! I'm so glad to be back! I wanted to write earlier, but a nice surprise kept me busy. I have talked about my little nephew Dante to you before, but in case you didn't know about him; last year he was diagnosed with a rare cancer called Neuroblastoma. He has been fighting like a true warrior; going through chemotherapies, blood transfusions, surgeries, radiation, clinical trials and several additional painful procedures.

My family and I have seen him go through a lot of suffering. However, last week Dante got a break from the dreadful hospitals and had a nice surprise waiting. My sister Sylvia, Dante's mom, received news from Make a Wish Foundation that they had granted Dante with a trip to Orlando, Florida. This organization only grants wishes to children and teens with life-threatening medical conditions.

Dante flew to Orlando along with his mommy, daddy and baby sister.  The rest of the family was fortunate to join them in Orlando, my mom, my brother Salvador, my sister Cynthia, my husband and I went on our own to Orlando, so we could see Dante having fun. My sister Sylvia told me about how wonderful it was to stay at Give Kids the World Village. She said that they treated Dante like royalty, and even Disney characters would come to the village and take pictures with them.

Dante and my family had a wonderful time in Walt Disney World. We saw him laugh, run, jump, and even walked in a parade with Woody from Toy Story. Seeing Dante happy, was such a blessing for myself and the entire family!

Well, dear friends, I'll write to you soon! Thanks for coming back! Have a wonderful weekend! :D

I ♥ Ocean Dreams blog

Hello my friends, how are you? I hope you are having a nice day! I would like to share with you a very lovely blog called Ocean Dreams from my dear friend Sierra. She's a very sweet and beautiful girl with a very creative writing style. She speaks from her heart, and her blog is full of beautiful images!

I found her blog more than a year ago, and when I told her about my family and I founding out that my little nephew had cancer, she immediately posted about him and shared the word.

She's an awesome friend; she's has helped my family and I throughout Dante's ordeal, and she's always being there. Did I mentioned that we haven't met? I hope one day we have the opportunity to meet one another.

Above, there's an illustration that I did for her a while back. For that illustration, I got inspired in the Sex in the City movie poster. She's a very big fan of that show. I hope you'll like it.

Well my friends, have a wonderful week and don't forget to check Sierra's blog, Ocean Dreams. You'll love it. Byeee

My Heart goes to People in Japan

"Each of us as human beings has a responsibility to reach out to help our brothers and sisters affected by disasters. One day it may be us or our loved ones needing someone to reach out and help."
Michael W. Hawkins, American Red Cross

It is with great sadness that today we face the aftermath of Japan's tragic earthquake and tsunami. My heart goes to everyone that was affected by this natural disaster. Today, more than ever we have to pray and stand together to help people in need.

If you want to help, there are many organizations where you can contribute. Here's the link to the American Red Cross, an organization that helps victims of disasters.

The people of Japan are in our prayers. God bless you.

Thanks to God!

Dante at 3 and 1/2 yrs. old
Dante and his mom (my sister Sylvia) 3/06/2011

Hello my friends, I'm so happy to be back and bring you some good news about my little nephew Dante. I've posted before about him, but if you haven't seen his story please click here. He's only 4 yrs. old, and last year he was diagnosed with a terrible cancer called Neuroblastoma.

Dante has been through a lot this past year, and my family has seen not only Dante's pain and suffering, but also that of many other kids who are sick or have cancer. Nobody wants to ever see a kid suffer, but unfortunately this things do happen.

Me and my family are so fortunate to have the support from many many people, even people that we don't know, who have helped us along the way, and have prayed for him and have given us comfort.

Today, I would like to thank God because Dante is finally doing better. He's still got a long way to go, but for now his treatment is working, and he's even got hair. Please continue to pray for him; for his full recovery. I know this disease is hard to beat, but I do believe in miracles. Please pray for Dante and for children all over the world who are sick and suffering.

Well my friends, I just wanted to give you Dante's update because my family and I are really happy for him. I'll keep you informed on his progress. Thanks for your prayers, God bless you!

I ♥ Blythe Doll

Blythe Photograph by Rocio R.

Hello my friends! How are you doing? I hope you are doing fine! Today, I wanted to share with you my love for the Blythe Doll. I found this vintage and artsy doll back in 2008, and ever since I fell in love with her.

This doll has a fascinating story that dates back to 1972, but unfortunately the market wasn't ready for her at that time. Gina Garan, rediscovered this doll and took some amazing pictures that helped to bring the Blythe Doll back into the market. You can read more of the story here.

There are many blogs and sites dedicated to the Blythe Doll. One of my favorites is this page that has a collection of Blythe Doll makeup.

Many fans also love collecting this doll and her accessories which can be very pricey. I just have one that I bought on Ebay. It's the one on the first picture, and I paid almost $100. I absolutely adore her and I think she's worth it.  ; )

One fun thing about this doll is that the doll has a string that you can pull, and the color of her eyes changes into four different colors. Isn't that awesome or what?

Well my friends, I hope you'll like this post, and if you didn't know anything about the Blythe Doll, now you know a little bit...hahaha! ;D

Sweet Valentine's Idea

Hello my friends! I hope you are doing fine. Are you getting ready for Valentine's? Well, I am and I wanted to bring you a very simple gift idea for your loved ones.

This is truly a very simple idea, all you need is some heart-shaped cookies and some cd sleeves, I used red colored sleeves, as you can see in the picture above.

To make your life more easy, you can buy the cookies already made, but if you are feeling a little more creative, you can also make your own, and decorate them as you want. Just slide the cookie inside the cd sleeve, and voila!

Well my friends, I wish you a very happy Valentine's and remember to show your loved ones how much you appreciate them.

The Benefits of Yoga

Hello there! I hope you're doing great! Of course every new year we tell ourselves that we need to get into shape, but not everyone likes to exercise. Yep, I'm one of those, especially because I have problems with my back due to a car accident from long ago.

Well, one of the things that my doctor recommended was to do some yoga, and I tried it and became very fond of it. The video that I do is called: "Healing Yoga for Aches and Pains" by Charles and Lisa Matkin, and I totally love it! Here it is:

The exercises on the video are simple, and very therapeutic for joints and aches. You can find this and other products on their website.

Of course, I'm no expert, but I do believe that if you do yoga constantly, it could benefit your heart, your flexibility, and it even help you to lower your stress levels.

If you want to know more about the benefits of yoga, be sure to check this article that I found on

Well, I hope you liked this post. See you soon!

Hello my friends, welcome back! We are almost in February, can you believe it? I love February, is such a lovely month, especially for Valentine's day. Well, it's just around the corner, and I love it because we show our love ones how much we care for them and appreciate them.

It also got me in to thinking, that to really love another person, you have to love and believe in yourself first. I think that when you care about yourself and think of yourself as a worthy person, everyone around you acknowledges you and respects you more.

It's so nice to treat yourself with respect and be kind to others.

Well my friends, if you need a cheer me up, you can click here for a link about tips on how to love yourself by C. Rainfield.

See you soon!

D.I.Y. Fabric-Covered Pencil Holder

Hello my friends, I'm glad to be back and bring you a very easy D.I.Y. (do it yourself) project. As you know I work with lots of color pencils, markers, etc., so I'm always in the need of all sorts of containers for my office supplies. I decided to create a chic and easy pencil holder with a scrap of fabric that I had left over from another project.

You just need very few supplies such as small container (I used the smallest sized Pringles chips container). A piece of fabric, scissors and fabric glue.

All you do is cut the fabric to the size needed for the container. Then, you wrap the fabric to the container using the fabric glue. For myself, I cut the fabric in a rectangular fashion, and I tucked in part of the fabric into the top rim of the container, as well as the bottom rim of the container. Then, you just have to put some glue and wrap the fabric as you rotate it.

Well my friends, I hope you'll like this project, and make lots of cute and very stylish containers for yourself. See you soon!

A New Beginning

Hello my friends, welcome back. How were your holidays? I hope you had a good time. I'm very grateful because I celebrated the holidays with my family and friends. It was such a blessing to see my nephew Dante doing good, and having fun, as you know, he suffers from cancer. *To learn more about my nephew, just click here.*

Well, this time of the year, always makes you wonder about changes, and things that you could improve. This year is no exception, and there are many things that are on my list of resolutions.

On top of my list is to eat healthier and cook more. I always liked cooking, but living in this fast-paced environment, makes you eat more fast-food thus having to make poor choices. I'm sure I can save some money and be healthier by not eating out so much...  : )

Another goal for this 2011 is to be more compassionate, and help out charities, especially the Ronald McDonald House Charities since I've seen first hand the amazing job that the charity does with sick children.

Well, that leaves me to my final goal that I would like to share, and that is to have more faith and get closer to God. I do believe in him, and I think he's always guides the way, even if you are in pain or you think you are alone.

Well my friends, I hope you have a wonderful year, and that all of your dreams and hopes become a reality. See you soon!
